Everyday Biscuits
Andrew and I LOVE making these biscuits! They are so tasty and very easy to make on the weekends or during the week. We’ve enjoyed making them on a Saturday or Sunday and then having a biscuit for breakfast each day of the week before work, with bacon, eggs, and cheese. I originally found this recipe from Ashlyn over @ashlynsailsbury. I hope you enjoy them too!
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 lb cold butter (2 sticks)
- 2 cups milk (or buttermilk)
- Preheat oven to 400*. Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in butter until most pieces are pea sized.
- Gently mix in milk, careful not to overwork or your biscuits won’t be fluffy. Batter should be loose and messy - a little gooey and not too crumbly. If super crumbly, add a bit more milk. If too wet, add a bit more flour.
- Lay the dough on a floured surface and use hands to flatten to 1-1.5 inches thick. Use a small glass to cut out circles, stack two circles on top of each other until all dough is used.
- Top each biscuit with a bit of milk, to make them goldeny brown once done baking.
- Bake at 400* for 15 minutes, until cooked through.
